support documenting program successes and learning through both video and
photography during the last two years. His work has been like no other Save the Children
produced videos I have seen, in that it is very creative, active and engages the viewer in
the story we are trying to tell. He produced videos for us in Burkina Faso, Egypt, Malawi
and Uganda. As a program, we have been very pleased with his work.
She Can Do – Save the Children
Sharkia, Lower Egypt
Throughout two weeks, in collaboration with the Zinester team, Save The Children have worked with 10 girls from Sharkia, Lower Egypt, who had graduated from YiA and have started their own small businesses, to create their own magazine, which they called: “She Can Do”.
This process empowered the girls and enabled them to articulate livelihood related issues that are relevant to them through a platform they created themselves. It also enhanced skills making them more marketable, such as communication skills, active listening skills and storytelling.
Diarra – Save the Children
Save the Children helps young people in rural Africa break the cycle of poverty.
Diarra is a 20-year-old from Boucle de Mouhoun, north-west of Burkina Faso. Diarra was about to get married when Youth in Action program started in her village. Her father was convinced to delay her marriage by one year until she graduates from the Program. She received significant family support to be able to establish and expand her own enterprise.

Youth in Action Final Program Video
Ephel – Save the Children
In Malawi, almost 2 girls out of ten become pregnant before the age of 18 years. As a result, they drop out of school and stay home struggling to make ends meat.
Ephel is a 19-year-old girl who became pregnant while in school and had to drop out. She is already a mother of a 3-year-old child. Since then, she lost all hopes to realize her dream to finish school until she joined the Youth in Action program.
Save the Children commissioned Harrison to document the work of youth in action across the 5 countries through video and photography.
