Natural talent combined with a fusion of formal and unconventional training has allowed Harrison to develop a very distinctive personal style – and because of his experience in diverse roles within the creative sector – he is also versatile. Harrison’s vast career includes extensive freelance assignments as director and production manager for NGO projects throughout Africa, for clients such as DFID, Girl Effect, Save the Children, UNHCR, Mastercard Foundation to name a few. His films have been featured on BBC, ABC and International Human Rights Film Festivals.
In 2017 Harrison undertook an epic assignment with UNHCR in Kakuma Refugee Camp where he led a team of refugee film students to create a two part documentary to examine the peaceful coexistence and economic benefits between Kakuma and its host community in Northern Turkana, Kenya. Premiering at UNHCR’s International Humanitarian Film Festival Hong Kong June 2019
Harrison is also the co-founder of Zinester – a citizen journalism workshop initiative. He takes the workshops around Africa where he teaches marginalized communities the skills to document and print their stories in Zines (DIY magazines). This project has been recognized globally and Harrison was invited to the annual QVED convention in Munich as a guest speaker to talk about the project.
